PURPOSE: To prevent the failure, damage and deformation of castings by dropping the casting molded in dies into a receiving box wherein powder and granular materials such as sand are contained and further additionally supplying the powder and granular material into said box.
CONSTITUTION: A cast iron casting M molded of dies consisting of a stationary die 11 and a movable die 12 is ejected by means of ejection pins 13 after spacing of the die 12 and is dropped. In the dropping position of the casting M, an empty box 21 is beforehand carried therein and a specified amt. of sand S1 is supplied from a conveyor 22. After the casting M drops into the box 21, the conveyor 22 operates again according to this and supplies the sand S2 additionally onto the casting M in the box 21. Thereafter the box 21 is carried out laterally by means of a conveyor or the like. Thereby, the impact upon the casting M during dropping is relieved and the failure and damage to the casting M are prevented. Since the surface of the casting M is coated with the sand S of the same quality, the cooling rates in the respective parts are averaged and the deformation owing to the nonuniform cooling is prevented.
