After a billet is loaded, a ram is advanced more, the billet is pressed forcibly and it is extruded from a die 24. A container 48 is moved so as to separate from the die 24 by acting a container moving cylinder. Next, a cylinder of a shear device is acted, a shear blade 32 is lowered, an article part and a discard 29 are cut away, then the discard 29 is dropped downward. After cutting, a piston rod is retreated with the cylinder, and the shear blade 32 is retreated to the waiting state. Therefore, because the discard is cut with the shear blade after the upper face part of the die is fixed unable to be rolled or inclined to the axial direction of the die with the die fixing device, the discard is cut well.
