Abstract:

PURPOSE: To improve the surface luster, the size preciseness and productivity of formed shape material in comparison of ordinary die material by using the ceramics the main component of which is the chromium carbide obtained by using specified sintering auxiliary agent for the material of the die.

CONSTITUTION: The die for hot extrusion consists of the sintered body the main component of which is the chromium carbide obtained by using at least one kind of sintering auxiliary agent selected from ZrB2, SiO, TiB2, TiC, TiN, AlN, Cr, Mo, and Ni. The strength of this sintering body is improved by containing at least one kind of wiskers or fibers selected from SiC, Si3N4 and Al2O3. Though there are many forms of chromium carbide, Cr3C2 is most gemerally used.
