To provide a die for reducing width of a hot slab which prevents seam flaws generated in an overall length in the longitudinal direction near a sheet edge portion of a hot-rolled steel sheet, in particular a hot-rolled steel sheet of ultralow-carbon steel and thus improves surface quality and a yield.
The die 1 for reducing width of the hot slab uses a die for reducing width including: an inclination part in a direction narrowing a distance between dies relative to a rolling direction at a die end on the upstream side in the rolling direction; an inclination part in a direction expanding the distance between the dies relative to the rolling direction at a die end on the downstream side in the rolling direction; and a reduction face located between the inclination parts in parallel with the rolling direction. A recessed trapezoidal groove 2 formed to reduce upper and lower corner portions of the slab is installed on only the reduction face in parallel with the rolling direction.
