PURPOSE: To prevent the generation of surface roughness and a seizing phenomenon, and wear even if the case of a material to be worked whose base body is silver by using partially stabilized zirconia for a die using for working of an electric contact material having specific hardness.

CONSTITUTION: A columnar part 7 placed in the periphery of a swaging part 5 abuts successively on the head part of a packer 6 formed in a semicircular type, and pushes up the packer 6 allowed to abut on. The depressed packer 6 beats a die 1a formed by sintering partially stabilized zirconia and crushes a member to be worked of the center part, and also, applies torsion. In such a way, a motor 4 is rotated, the columnar part 7 abuts successively on the head of the packer 6 and pushes up the die 1a, and the die 1a draws out a wire rod and works it to prescribed dimensions. Accordingly, since partially stabilized zirconia is used for the die 1a, it does not conform well to an electric contact stock whose base material is silver, and roughness of the surface caused by its adhesion is prevented. Also, even in the case of a member whose hardness is ≥600HV Vickers hardness, no wear occurs.
