Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent occurrence of baking, filling failure, hot cracking or hot tear, surface fold, and shrinkage cavity to a molding product of a Mg alloy by installing plural gates to a die, installing a runner directly from a sprue to each gate, and making the distance between the adjacent gates to be a specific value or less.
SOLUTION: Plural gates are installed to a die for die cast casting or metal injection molding a Mg alloy, and a runner is directly installed from a sprue to each gate. The distance of a non-gate portion between the adjacent gates is set to be 10 mm or less except for the case where it is not allowed in view of a product design. As an essential requirement, the volume of each runner reaching each gate from the sprue is made identical to each other. It is desirable that the cross sectional area of each gate is set in proportion to the product volume to be filled from the gate. It is desirable that the total cross sectional area of each runner reaching each gate from the sprue is made to be identically remained in the flowing direction of the sprue or to be continuously decreased. Also, it is desirable that the shape of the sprue is R5 or more as far as possible so as to smoothen the metal flow.
