PURPOSE: To obtain dielectric ceramics having a high dielectric constant, low loss coefft. and decreased changes in the dielectric constant with temp. by precipitating a dopant from a liquid medium contg. the precursor material of the dopant in a medium dispersed with a main component and homogeneizing the dispersion of the dopant.
CONSTITUTION: The dielectric ceramics uniformly dispersed with the dopant particles is formed by the following process: Namely, the main component is dispersed into the liquid medium and the dopant particles are precipitated from the liquid medium contg. the precursor material of the dopant to disperse the dopant particles over the entire part of the main component particles, by which the dopant particles are bonded to the main component particles. The particles are then sintered after the liquid medium is removed. The precipitated dopant is preferably precipitated in such a manner that the particle size of about 0.1 micron is attained. The control of the reaction in the liquid medium described above is executed by holding the pH within the value of a selected range. The main component is preferably barium titanate and the dopant particles preferably consist of niobium pentaoxide and cobalt oxide.
