The dielectric leakage wave antenna 20 has a ground plate conductor 21, a dielectric substrate 23 provided while being overlapped on one side of that ground plate conductor 21 for forming a transmission line for transmitting electromagnetic waves with the ground plate conductor 21 from one terminal side to the other terminal side along with the surface, metal strips 24 mounted on the surface of the dielectric substrate at prescribed intervals along with the electromagnetic wave transmitting direction of the transmission line for leaking the electromagnetic waves from the surface of the dielectric substrate and a power feeding part 30 for supplying the electromagnetic waves to one terminal side of the transmission line. In the antenna, vertically and linearly polarized electromagnetic waves are radiated by providing the metal strips 24, which have a length almost equal to the width of the dielectric substrate 23, orthogonally to the electromagnetic wave transmitting direction of the transmission line.
