To provide a lightweight dielectric loss material exhibiting an excellent electromagnetic wave absorption characteristic having a wide absorption frequency band in a high frequency band, and an electromagnetic wave absorber using it.
This dielectric loss material contains: 10-70 vol.% of an electrically conductive material having a conductivity ≥5×10-6 S/cm and ≤1×103 S/cm; and an insulating material. The electrically conductive material is at least one selected from among boron carbide, electrically conductive carbon powder, and silicon carbide, the electrically conductive carbon powder is more preferably boron solution carbon black, and the insulating material is preferably a thermosetting resin. The electromagnetic wave absorber is a sheet having dielectric loss using the above-mentioned dielectric loss material, or it is formed by laminating the above-mentioned sheet having dielectric loss and a sheet having magnetic loss.
