Abstract:
To suppress the generation of soot by increasing the air utilization rate of fuel injected by after-injection while maintaining relatively good fuel consumption performance.SOLUTION: A diesel engine has a piston having a cavity formed in a crown surface. The cavity has a bottom part, an outer peripheral part recessed to be convex to the radial outside, and a lip part protruded on the upper side of the outer peripheral part to be convex to the radial inside. An injection control part allows an injector to execute main injection Jm for injecting fuel to the lip part and after-injection Ja for injecting a smaller amount of fuel than the main injection Jm at a predetermined timing in an expansion stroke delayed from the main injection Jm. An injection interval time Ti as a time from finishing the main injection Jm to starting the after-injection Ja is set shorter as an engine speed is higher. The shortening rate of the injection interval time Ti to an increase of the engine speed is greater as the engine speed is higher.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 20
