This supercharging diesel engine with an intercooler performs intercooler bypass control for bypassing the intercooler to the whole or partial suction air, when an engine load is in a predetermined low-medium load area or when supercharging pressure is a predetermined value or less, in a low atmospheric pressure environment (Step 106), and also performs swirl ratio reduction control for increasing fuel injection pressure, by reducing the swirl ratio, when the engine load is in a medium-high load area or when the supercharging pressure exceeds the predetermined value, in the low atmospheric pressure environment.
