Abstract:
To provide a diesel engine of premixed compressed ignition system, capable of operation in a load/speed region over a wide range.
This diesel engine, having a subsidiary chamber provided with a fuel injection nozzle and an air injection nozzle, is equipped with a subsidiary chamber scavenge step injecting only air into the subsidiary chamber from the air injection nozzle after premixed fuel is injected into a cylinder by the fuel injection nozzle and the air injection nozzle and a pilot fuel injection step injecting pilot fuel into the subsidiary chamber from the fuel injection nozzle in the latter period of a compression stroke.
