Abstract:

To achieve improvement of combustion efficiency and enhancement of purification of exhaust gas by supplying auxiliary fuel to a combustion chamber by causing it to be uniformly dispersed into intake air, in a diesel engine designed to supply auxiliary fuel from an intake port.

The diesel engine includes an intake port 8 for supplying an intake air 7 to a combustion chamber 3 via an intake valve 6, an exhaust port 11 for discharging an exhaust gas 9 of the combustion chamber 3 via an exhaust valve, and a fuel injection valve 5 for injecting main fuel 4 to the combustion chamber 3. The diesel engine further includes a auxiliary fuel injection device 31 for injecting auxiliary fuel 21a via a auxiliary fuel port 15 to an intake port 8. The auxiliary fuel injection device 31 includes a fuel evaporator 20 for heating and gasifying the auxiliary fuel 21a from auxiliary fuel supply device 19, and a heating tube 18 for keeping gas fuel from the fuel evaporator 20 warm and directing it to the auxiliary fuel port 15.
