Abstract:
PURPOSE:To enable the incineration of particulates to be easily carried out with a simple structure by forming the inlet-side plugs, which close a part of openings on the exhaust gas inlet side, for a honeycomb filter member having a large number of exhaust gas passages with a material that generates heat when energized. CONSTITUTION:A particulate collecting device 1 is partitioned by porous partition walls 21, and comprises cordierite honeycomb filter members 2 having a large number of square cross-sectional exhaust gas passages which run parallel to each other. And the exhaust gas inlet-side openings of the exhaust gas passages 22 of this filter member 2 are alternately closed with inlet-side lugs 3, while the respective exhaust gas outlet-side openings of the exhaust gas passages whose inlet-side openings are opened are closed with outlet-side plugs 5. In this case, the inlet-side plugs 3 are made of an integral structure consisting of a material that generates heat when energized, or a ceramic heater material such as Fe-Cr-Al alloy and the like, and are connected to a power cord 4 via an energizing means.
