To provide a diesel particulate filter which can improve particulate matter (PM) reduction performance.
The diesel particulate filter 12 is provided with a three-dimensional mesh structure 13 containing inorganic fiber and a supporting body 14 having a through-hole. The three-dimensional mesh structure 13 and/or the supporting body 14 are constituted so that a pressure loss is increased toward the downstream side of an exhaust gas channel. As the constitution in which the pressure loss is increased toward the downstream side of the exhaust gas channel, the constitution is preferable that the porosity of the three-dimensional mesh structure 13 is decreased toward the downstream side of the exhaust gas channel. The constitution is also preferable that the surface area of the supporting body 14 is increased toward the downstream side of the exhaust gas channel.
