To provide a differential device and a method of manufacturing a differential case in the differential device capable of facilitating forging of the differential case and capable of miniaturizing the differential case.
The differential device 1 includes the differential case 3, an input gear 5, a pinion 7, side gears 9 and 11, and a differential mechanism 13 constituted by the differential case 3, the pinion 7 and a pair of the side gears 9 and 11. The differential case 3 has a pair of boss parts 15 and 17, and a storage part 19 for storing the pinion 7 and the pair of the side gears 9 and 11, and the input gear 5 is disposed on an outer periphery of the boss part 15 through a fixing part 21 so as to be integrally rotatable with the differential case 3, and a rectangular space part 23 is provided in an inside of the storage part 19.
