To provide a differential device simplifying the structure of the differential device equipped with a coupling.
The differential device 1 includes a differential mechanism 13 comprising a differential case 3, pinions 5, 7, and a pair of side gears 9, 11, wherein the coupling 15 limiting the differential operation of the differential mechanism 13 is stored in the differential case 3. The differential case 3 includes a case member 17 storing the respective members 5, 7, 9, 11, and a cover member 19 blocking the case member 17. The coupling 15 includes: a housing 21 provided to be rotatable integrally with the cover member 19; a hub 23 provided to be rotatable integrally with the side gear 9; a plurality of resistance plates connected in an integrally rotatable manner to the cover member 19 and the hub 23; and a viscous fluid filled in a sealed space 25 formed by the cover member 19, the housing 21 and the hub 23. The pinions 5, 7 are axially supported between a wall part 27 of the case member 17 and the housing 21.
