Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a differential device including a pinion shaft supporting member having a lighter weight.SOLUTION: A differential device 1 includes a differential gear mechanism 3 having a side gear 31 and a pinion gear 32 engaging therewith, a pinion shaft 4 pivotally supporting the pinion gear 32, a hollow slide member 5 supporting the end of the pinion shaft 4, and a pinion washer 72 arranged between the slide member 5 and the pinion gear 32. The pinion washer 72 is restricted from moving to the side of the slide member 5 along the axial direction of the pinion shaft 4. When the pinion gear 32 pushes the pinion washer 72 against the side of the slide member 5 with a force smaller than a predetermined value, a gap is formed between an inner face 53a of the slide member 5 and an outer face 72a of the pinion washer 72, and when the pinion gear 32 pushes the pinion washer 72 against the side of the slide member 5 with a force not smaller than the predetermined value, the outer face 72a of the pinion washer 72 abuts on the inner face 53a of the slide member 5.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
