To provide a differential gear device capable of reducing the size in the output shaft diameter direction, capable of coping with reduction in an aboveground height of a carriage and capable of improving reliability of the differential gear device.
A rotational driving mechanism 16 of a differential gear device 11 is composed of a third bevel gear 15 arranged on a side surface of a housing 13, a fourth bevel gear 20 for rotatably driving the third bevel gear 15 and an input shaft 19 provided with the fourth bevel gear 20 and rotatably supported by a device body 11a. The third bevel gear 15 can use an outer diameter smaller than a housing outer diameter by the structure. Since the device body 11a can support the input shaft 19 at its opposite ends by having an intermediate wall 21a for supporting an opposite surface of an input shaft arranging surface of the fourth bevel gear 20, the differential gear device can be stably driven. Thus, reliability of the differential gear device can be improved.
