Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a differential gear for developing sufficient differential limiting operation during high load and allowing proper switching between a differential condition and a differential limiting condition.
SOLUTION: The differential gear comprises a pair of right and left pressure rings 12 provided in a differential case 11 so as to be movable but relatively non-rotatable in the direction of an axle, the pair of right and left pressure rings 12 each having an inner diameter set to be larger than that of a side gear 15, a set of clutch means 16 arranged at both sides of both pressure rings in the direction of the axle, energizing means 18 for energizing both pressure rings 12 in the direction of narrowing a clearance 17 between both pressure rings 12, and operating means 19 for operating the pressure rings 12 against the energizing force of the energizing means 18 in the direction of increasing the clearance 17 between both pressure rings 12 with the increase of relatively rotating torque between a pinion shaft 13 and the differential case 11 during differential operation to actuate the clutch means 16.
