PURPOSE: To suppress the torque shock during a travel due to the lock of differentials and improve the differential limit characteristic by generating the period for holding the inter-axle differential in the lock state and the period for holding inter-wheel differentials in the lock state at different timing.
CONSTITUTION: In the power transmission system of a vehicle, a center differential 20 is arranged on a transfer 12, and front and rear differentials 21, 22 are arranged on front and rear axles 15, 17 respectively. The differentials 20-22 are controlled by a differential control unit 43 respectively based on input signals from a throttle sensor 32, a brake switch 31 and a manual switch 44. The differential control unit 43 controls the differentials 20-22 so that the period for holding the inter-axle differential 20 in the lock state and the period for holding the inter-wheel differentials 21, 22 in the lock state are generated at different timing. The releasing timing of the lock state of the differentials 20-22 may be made different from each other.
