To provide a differential scanning calorimeter capable of accurately measuring changes in the quantity of heat of a sample to be measured, on the basis of the temperature difference between a sample container and a reference container, without being affected by the nonuniformity of the heat that flows in from the circumference and the noise component.
The differential scanning calorimeter 1 is equipped with: a heating furnace 6, having a substantially H-shaped cross section that has a substantially cylindrical wall part 12 and a substantially plate-shaped heat inflow part 13; a heater 7 provided to the outer periphery of the wall part 12 to heat the heating furnace 6a; a heat resistance members 10, arranged along the direction of the center axis L of the wall part 12, to be fixed in an almost rod-shaped state so as to be protruded from both surfaces of the heat inflow part 13 by a length substantially equal and formed of a material, of which the thermal conductivity is lower than that of the heating furnace 6; a sample containers 8, provided to one end parts of the heat resistance member 10; and a reference containers 9, provided to the other end parts of the heat resistance member 10 and a differential heat flow detection means 11 for detecting the difference between the temperature of the sample containers 8 and the temperature of the reference containers 9, as measured value.
