This difluorocyclopropane derivative is represented by formula (1) [wherein R1 and R2 are each hydroxymethyl group, acyloxymethyl group, sulfonyloxymethyl group, a hydroxymethyl group protected with ether- or carbonate-forming protective group; carboxyl group allowed to be protected with a protective group; amino group allowed to be protected with a protective group; formyl group, vinyl group, methyl group, 2-(substituted oxycarbonyl) ethenyl group or a substituted stannyl group; and p is 0 or 1 with proviso that R1 and R2 are not simultaneously or each hydroxymethyl group or acyloxymethyl group when p is 0].
