Abstract:
NEW MATERIAL: Compounds of formula I (R is methyl, methoxy).
EXAMPLE: 1,1-Dimethyl-3-(3,4-difluorophenyl)-urea.
USE: Herbicides, especially suitable for selective control by a post-germination method for monocotyledon cultivated plants, for example monocotyledon and dicotyledon weeds in wheat field.
PROCESS: A difluorophenyl isocyanate of formula II is reacted with an amine of formula III at a temp. of -20-100°C in an inactive organic solvent such as toluene to obtain the compound of formula I. In the reaction, 0.9-2.0 mole of amine of the formula III is used for 1 mole of a compound of the formula II.
