Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject new compound having excellent intraocular pressure-decreasing activities, hardly providing eye irritation and influence to ocular tissue such as cornea, iris and conjunctiva, and also excellent in persistance of the activities, and suitably usable as a medicine for an eye disease.
SOLUTION: This compound is a fluorine-containing prostaglandin derivative of the formula [A is ethylene, vinylene, ethynylene or the like; R1 is a 3-8C alkyl, a 3-8C alkenyl or the like; R2 and R3 are each independently H, acyl or the like; X is CH2, O or the like; Z is OR4 (R4 is H, an alkyl, an alkynyl, an alkenyl or the like), NHCOR5 (R5 is the same as R4) or the like] or a salt thereof, for example, 16-phenoxy-15-deoxy-15,15-difluoro-17,18,19,20- tetranorprostaglandin F2α is cited. For example, a compound of the formula can be synthesized by using a Corey lactone as a starting material and further using a method similar to general Prostaglandin F2α.
