Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a digital broadcast receiver, in which a program for controlling its internal operation can be revised easily for receiving digital broadcast programs by broadcast enterprises employing different systems and to improve the convenience of the recipient, and which also has a sophisticated OSD display function. SOLUTION: A CPU 1 is operated in accordance with a program down-loaded from an external recording medium, a digital broadcast signal received from an input terminal 13 is demodulated by a tuner 15, descrambled by a descrambler 16, only the desired data or broadcast data are extracted from the multiplexed data through an MPEG decode processing 17, and video/audio signals or data are decoded. The video signal, decoded by the MPEG decode processing 17 and an OSD image generated by a graphics processing 14, are changeovered or they are mixed as required in a mixer and changeover circuit 18, from which the result is outputted.
