The digital camera is provided with a CCD 221 for receiving a subject light flux having passed through a photographing lens and outputting a subject image signal, a movable half mirror 201 capable of moving forward and backward in an optical path of the photographing lens, and a distance-measuring/photometric sensor 217 for measuring a distance using a phase difference method on the basis of the subject light flux reflected on the half mirror in a state where the movable half mirror 201 moves forward to the photographing optical path. In setting an aperture value (subsequent AV) and a shutter speed (subsequent TV) in acquiring a motion picture (S217, S219), the digital camera sets them at values within a range of aperture values (opened aperture values-AVa) suitable for a detection operation based on the phase difference distance measurement in the distance-measuring/photometric sensor 217 (S207-S213).
