To perform interlocked control of exposure and gradation conversion while maintaining half-tone reproduction, on a captured image, by a simple operation.
A digital camera comprises: imaging means for imaging a subject image; an operation member for setting a single value in response to operation by a user; exposure control means for controlling exposure of the imaging means in accordance with the value set by the operation member; and gradation conversion means for gradation conversion on image data taken by the imaging means in accordance with the value set by the operation member. The exposure control means and the gradation conversion means control exposure and gradation conversion such that the halftone portion of the image data having undergone the gradation conversion by the gradation conversion means becomes constant without regard to the value set by the operation member.
