An image for an object is picked up by a release command and the image data of a through image indicating the object image are acquired. In the mean time, a random number is generated from a random number generator 42 and one special effect is selected from plural special effects based on the random number value generated from the generator 42. A special effect image processing part 26 performs image processing for the image data of the picked-up through image based on the selected special effect to prepare the image data indicating the special effect image. The image data indicating the special effect image is recorded in an external memory 50 or sent out to an external printer through a communication interface 48.
