To provide a digital camera capable of obtaining an erect image independently of a photographing attitude.
The digital camera 10 is formed to be a box and has a lens 16 in front, and a lateral position release button 12 and a longitudinal position release button 14. The lateral position release button 12 is located on a body ceiling side similarly to the case with an ordinary camera and the longitudinal position release button 14 is placed on a body side face. Since the lateral position release button 12 and the longitudinal position release button 14 exist at positions which the index finger of the right hand of a photographer can easily reach when the photographer holding the digital camera longitudinally or laterally, the photographer can easily operate the release buttons even when holding the digital camera at the longitudinal or lateral position. Further, since the photographer decides a photographed image as a longitudinal position image by depressing the longitudinal position release button 14, the longitudinal or lateral image position is decided without fail as intended by the photographer. Since no effect is imposed on the longitudinal / lateral image discrimination even when the lens is directed in any direction, the longitudinal / lateral photographed image is coincident with the intention of the photographer independently of the direction of the lens.
