To provide a digital camera with which the number of pictures to be taken is changed in one mirror sequence and pictures are taking at the optimum focusing position by making range-finding for one subject at a plurality of positions.
In the digital camera, an imager 44 receiving subject luminous flux and picking up an image moves in the optical axis direction of the subject luminous flux, and a quick return mirror is switched in an optical path to a position where the subject luminous flux is guided to an observation optical system and to a retreat position where the subject luminous flux is guided to the imager 44. When the quick return mirror exists at the retreat position, an imager driving unit 59 on which the imager 44 is mounted is driven to the focusing position of the subject obtained by a range-finding unit 41 and a position other than the focusing position, so that the image is picked up by the imager 44 at the focusing position and the position other than the focusing position.
