Abstract:

To realize secure, flexible rights management for preventing manipulation of use information by a user and flexibly changing use condition by a service provider.

By combining a DRM system 1 and a PKI platform 2, utilizing of contents is limited on the basis of validity of an electronic certificate. The user has a user terminal device 5 for determining the propriety of utilizing of contents using the electronic certificate. The use information of the users is totally managed by a database 1b of the DRM system on the network. The contents encoded by a common key, a pair of contents utilizing keys relating to the user, and the contents utilizing certificate are issued to the user, and when the useable state ends, the contents are made unusable by invalidating the contents utilizing certificate.
