Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To execute recording which can realize special reproduction by eliminating code words corresponding to the coefficients not less than the (N+1)-th order among the orthogonal transformation coefficients of an intra-frame contained in an inputted digital image signal.
SOLUTION: An input signal is supplied to an intra-data separation part 1 and a recording format conversion part 6. The separation part 1 separates only data of the intra-frame (frame which is encoded in frame) in the inputted image signal and inputs it to a memory part 2. The memory part 2 stores the data. A code quantity calculation part 3, a DCT coefficient elimination part 4 and a packet re-synthesis part 5 eliminates the high-order component of a DCT coefficient (coefficient generated by the discrete cosine transformation which is one of orthogonal transformations) from data stored in the memory part 2 and data for special reproduction is generated. It is recording in the special reproduction area of the magnetic tape 7. A frame period and target code quantity are set so that code quantity per intra-frame becomes not more than target code quantity that can be recorded.
