Abstract:
PURPOSE: To improve the quality of speech by preventing the occurrence of foreign sounds even in the case that the transmission line quality is too degraded to correct and detect an error.
CONSTITUTION: In an error correction and decoding circuit 25, the signal obtained by re-encoding an encoded digital reception signal after the error correction and decoding processing and a signal before this processing are compared with each other by a difference device 255 to obtain a first error occurrence position detection signal CHD1; and in a BER measuring circuit 30, the amplitude level of the encoded digital reception signal is compared with a threshold to obtain a second error occurrence position detection signal CBD2. switching of a switching circuit 257 is controlled in accordance with the measured value of BER by a control circuit 40, and the first detection signal CHD1 is supplied to a voice decoding circuit 26 to perform the error protection processing if BER us relatively row, but the second detection signal CHD2 is supplied to the voice decoding circuit 26 to perform the error protection processing if it is degraded.
