To provide an updating method, a communication system and a processor easily applicable to the diversification of mechanisms and reducing a communication load in receiving a control program from a recorder via communication when updating the control program for controlling processing parts of a processor such as a digital complex machine having various processing parts including a facsimile mechanism and a scanner mechanism.

When a first control program recorded in the processor 100 is updated to a second control program, an updating file integrated with a compressed control program consisting of the plurality of types of compressed second control programs is recorded in the recorder 200, and the updating file is transmitted from the recorder 200 to the processor 100. The processor 100 develops the compressed control program contained in the received updating file to generate the second control program and update the first control program to the second control program.
