To provide a digital pulse width modulation apparatus capable of improving the resolution of pulse width modulation without using a clock of a high frequency.
The pulse width modulation apparatus using two clocks, i.e. a clock A (100) having a frequency {(N +1) M} times as much as that of a sampling clock of a digital signal and a clock B (101) having a frequency {N M} times as much as that of the sampling clock of the digital signal, specifies a pulse leading edge and a pulse trailing edge of a pulse width modulation signal by using a remainder value (113) and a quotient value (114) obtained by dividing the digital signal by N. Consequently, resolution N times as high as that of a conventional apparatus can be achieved and a highly efficient apparatus having the resolution N times as high as that of the conventional apparatus can be provided.
