Abstract:

To provide a digital still camera which can perform automatic focusing suitable to an object in consecutive shoots.

A photographer selects and sets a phase difference AF system or contrast AF system (step S10). Then a picture is taken by the selected AF system (step S13 to S17). When a shutter button is fully depressed for a specific time or longer, namely, when it is decided in a step S18 that the full depression of the shutter button is not ended yet, it is decided that consecutive shooting is selected and the processes of the steps S17 to S20 are repeated to take pictures consecutively by the selected AF system. Consequently, the automatic focusing suitable for an object is enabled even in the consecutive shooting.
