To provide a digital still camera and the like in which a sub image can be composed with a photographed still image and outputted to a printer.
A still image memory 14 segments a still image from a video signal generated by a camera processing circuit 13 and stores still image data. A sub image memory of a printer 2 stores a window frame image or character code to be composed with the still image as a sub image. Transceiver circuits 21, 31 perform infrared two-way communication. In this system, during a composition mode, the sub image is transmitted from the printer 2 to the still camera 1, and this transmitted sub image and the photographed still image are composed and displayed on a display 19. In a print mode, the composed synthetic image is transmitted from the still camera 1 to the printer 2 and printed out.
