To provide a communication system, in which a pulse position modulation data is compensated for inter-symbol interferences caused by channels, and a pulse position coded data is extracted from the reception signal which is damaged by the inter-symbol interference caused by the channels.
A transmitter comprises a modulator which includes a symbol mapping circuit, and the symbol mapping circuit receives a data symbol to be transmitted, and maps the data symbol into a transmission code. A receiver 505 comprises a demodulator which comprises a sampling circuit 525, which samples at a constant cycle the received data symbol acquired by a signal-receiving circuit after communication with the signal-receiving circuit in the receiver. The sample in the data sample is stored by a sample storing circuit 530 that communicates with the sampling circuit. The sample storing circuit transfers the stored sample to a symbol mapping circuit 535. The symbol mapping circuit then restores the data symbol.
