PURPOSE: To provide the subject copolymer little in change with the lapse of time, excellent in separation operability and useful as a blood-separating agent, etc., without causing a physical or chemical change by copolymerizing a specific α-olefin with a specific monomer and dimethanooctahydronaphthalene in a specified ratio.
CONSTITUTION: The objective copolymer having a number-average mol.wt. of 200-10000 is produced by copolymerizing (A) 20-98mol.% of dimethanooctahydronaphthalene, (B) 2-50mol.% of a 6-20C α-olefin and/or an alkylvinyl ether wherein the alkyl group has 2-20 carbon atoms and (C) 0-30mol.% of a monomer having a copolymerizable ethylenically unsaturated bond except the components A and B, such as styrene, in the presence of a cationic polymerization initiator such as ammonium chloride. The blood- separating agent contains the copolymer as a main component.
