To solve the problems that in a conventional bullet type high- luminance LED packaging, light beams, among those radiated from a light- emitting diode, which are incident on a cylindrical portion, are led to unspecified directions or totally reflected by the surface thereof and cannot be utilized, while those incident on a lens portion are collected and enhanced in light intensity.
The diode emitter (A) is provided with the light-emitting diode (1), a lead frame (2) therefor, and a packaging (3) for incorporating the both therein. The packaging (3) is constituted of a base portion (4) at a lead frame side, a spherical portion (6) extending to the base portion (4), whose center (C) resides in the central portion of the light-emitting diode (1), and an aspherical lens portion (7) which protrudes outward from the spherical portion (6), being on an optical axis (R) of the light-emitting diode (1). A light-emitting device has such an arrangement wherein the diode emitter (A) is enclosed by a rectangular or circular mirror reflector (21) having a paraboloidal surface (22) whose focal point (F) resides in the luminous central portion of the diode emitter (A).
