Abstract:
To provide a novel compound that is a diol compound that is easily produced by using an easily acquirable compound as a raw material, is very useful as a synthetic intermediate of various compounds, and becomes a raw material of various polymers.SOLUTION: A diol compound represented by formula (1) is provided. [In formula (1), at least one hydrogen in the norbornane skeleton may be independently substituted by at least one substituent selected from the group consisting of a halogen, a sulfur-containing monovalent group, an oxygen-containing monovalent group, a nitrogen-containing monovalent group, an alkyl having 1 to 20 carbon atoms, an alkenyl having 1 to 20 carbon atoms, an alkynyl having 1 to 20 carbon atoms, an alkoxy having 1 to 20 carbon atoms, a saturated or unsaturated cyclic hydrocarbon group having 3 to 20 carbon atoms, a saturated or unsaturated heterocyclic hydrocarbon group having 3 to 20 carbon atoms, and a group obtained by substituting at least one hydrogen atom in these groups by a halogen, and at least one carbon may independently be substituted by a heteroatom.]SELECTED DRAWING: None
