Abstract:
NEW MATERIAL:The diphenyl ether compound of formula (R1 and R2 are H or 1W4C alkyl; R3 is H, halogen, methyl, hydroxyl, tosyloxy, or mesyloxy; l, m and n are 0 or 1).
EXAMPLE: 4-(3,5-Difluorophenoxy)phenol.
USE: Useful as a shynthetic intermediate for the compound having strong juvenile hormone-like activity and exhibiting remarkably high controlling effect to the insects of Coleoptera, Lepidoptera, Hemiptera, Orthoptera, Diptera order, etc.
PREPARATION: The compound of formula wherein l, m and n are 0 and R3 is methyl can be prepared by reacting 1,3,5-trifluorobenzene with p-methoxyphenol in the presence of an alkali metal salt and copper or a copper compound (e.g. cuprous chloride, cuprous bromide, etc.).
