This direct cooling type refrigerator comprising a heat insulating box 101, a heat insulating door 107 attached to an opening of the heat insulating box 101 so as to be openable and closable, and a cooler 110 for directly cooling air in the heat insulating box 101, further comprises a carrier 201 arranged in the heat insulating box 101, and carrying a photocatalyst, an irradiating means 202 for irradiating the carrier 201 with exciting light for exciting the photocatalyst, a blower fan 203 for distributing cold air in the heat insulating box 101 forcibly toward the carrier 201, a disinfecting device 200 having a base 205 forming a flow channel of air distributed by the blower fan 203, a cover member 206 covering the disinfecting device 200 mounted to the inner wall of the heat insulating box 101, and a lighting means 300 covered by the cover member 206 and lighting the inside of the heat insulating box 101.
