Title:
DIRECT FUEL INJECTION TYPE SPARK IGNITION ENGINE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3721879
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize stable stratified combustion driving even at the time of idling when a tumbling current weakens.
SOLUTION: A combustion chamber 2 recessively provided on a piston is constituted of a bottom surface 28 a cross-section along a flat surface toward the exhaust side from the suction side of which makes a curved shape approximate to a circular arc of a radius of curvature R and a pair of side surfaces, and an upper surface opening shape makes a roughly rectangular shape. An angle which a circular arc contact surface at a collision point 33 at a piston position at the time when a spray lower end part (f) reaches the bottom surface 28 at a spraying period at the time of low rotation makes against a horizontal surface is set to that an angle a becomes less than 1/2 of an angle θ made by the spray lower part (f) and the horizontal surface. Consequently, even when the spray period comes to be at the delay angle side, the lower end part (f) of fuel spray is reflected upward above the horizontal surface without fail, and even when gas flow is weak, the fuel spray is collected in the neighbourhood of an ignition plug 7, and stable stratified combustion is possible.
