Abstract:
To greatly reduce emission of unburned HC.
In a multi-cylinder direct injection internal combustion engine provided with a volume part holding exhaust gas discharged from a combustion chamber, the direct injection internal combustion engine includes a plurality of the combustion chambers and exhaust gas from at least two of the combustion chambers is mixed in an upstream side of the volume part. Consequently, high temperature exhaust gas is mixed in the upstream side of the volume part, temperature of exhaust gas flowing in the volume part rises due to promotion of oxidation, and sufficient combustion of unburned HC is performed in the volume part.
