Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To layer-likely and surely transport fuel atomization to nearby an ignition plug, by collecting an air flow from the groove part of a piston crown surface to one point, to lead the air flow to nearby a fuel injection valve.
SOLUTION: A sequential tumble flow, guided by the groove part 11 of a piston 3 crown surface to move toward nearby a fuel injection valve 10 and toward nearby an ignition plug 9 from nearby the valve 10, is produced in a combustion chamber 4. The groove part 11 of the piston 3 crown surface has a width having the broad exhaust valve 6 side and the narrow intake valve 5 side, and a depth having the shallow valve 6 side and the deep valve 5 side.
