To provide a direct injection type engine capable of sufficiently cooling a tip part of a direct injector.
This direct injection type engine is provided with a cylinder body 5 having a cooling water passage 9 in which cooling water is supplied from a radiator side and a cylinder head 1 having a main cooling water passage 12. The direct injector 14 is provided in a section sandwiched by an intake port 3 in the cylinder head 1 and the cylinder body 5. An auxiliary cooling water passage connected with the cooling water passage in the cylinder body 5 and partitioned from the main cooling water passage 12 is formed in the vicinity of the injector 14 in the cylinder head 1. A cooling device 32 forming a cooling water passage 33 in the inside is mounted on the injector 14. An inlet for cooling water of the cooling device 32 is connected with the auxiliary cooling water passage, and an outlet for cooling water is connected with the main cooling water passage 12.
