DIRECT REDUCTION METHOD OF FINE PARTICLE IRON OXIDE CONTAINING MATERIAL AND PLANT FOR EXECUTING THE METHOD

PURPOSE: To reduce the energy cost of direct reduction by mixing reform gas with a top gas forming in the direct reduction of a fine particle iron oxide containing material and making the gas mixture a reduction gas containing a specified quantity of H2/CO by removing a CO2 gas.
CONSTITUTION: An iron oxide containing material of a fine particle ore etc., is passed in series through fluidized bed reaction furnaces 1-4 consisting of plural stages and countercurrently to the material, a reduction gas heated to a prescribed temp. in a heating furnace 18 is made to flow from a line 17 to the reaction furnaces 4-1. By this method, the material is reduced to produce sponge iron. On the other hand, the reduction gas is discharged after the reaction from a line 8 as a top gas, is mixed with a reform gas produced from a natural gas/a water vapor in a reform furnace 10 and is used as the reduction gas. In the direct reduction method of the fine particle iron oxide containing material by the fluidized bed method, CO2 in the mixture gas of the top gas and the reform gas is removed by passing it through a CO2 removal device 16. By this method, the reduction gas containing 45-75% preferably 50-65% H2 and 10-20% CO is supplied to the reaction furnace 4.
