PURPOSE: To provide the direction change device of a universal wheel so that a vehicle can return straight as it is when a running vehicle is transferred from advance running to return running, in one end part out of both ends of area where the running vehicle can run reciprocatingly.
CONSTITUTION: A direction change device 20 has a push up means 25 for pushing up a running vehicle 23 running on a floor G by the support of a universal wheel 21 from the floor and is such constitution that one end of the universal wheel 21 is born to a horizontal shaft 30 of the running vehicle 23 and its loose end is mounted on a slanting plate 26 separated from the running vehicle in a down direction when the running vehicle is pushed up. When the running vehicle 23 is transferred from advance running to return running, it is pushed up from a floor by a push up means 25. Then, the slanting plate 26 is slanted downward around a horizontal shaft 30 and the wheel of the universal wheel 21 is rotated and moved to the lower end side of the slanting plate 26 by own weight and its direction is changed. Thereafter, when the running vehicle 23 is lowered, the universal wheel 21 supports the running vehicle 23 under the changed direction state and a return running guide is carried out without the swing of the running wheel 23 to left/right.
